That is really interesting! I was not aware of that information but Henry Bird seemed to be a more prominent figure in Poulton around that time. I am still searching and find little snippets which might or might not be relevant. Just hoping little by little the pieces can be linked eventually. Great, thanks very much Geekus.

Scaffolding is up, looks like they have rendered the stack so I would say yes work is now in progress. I live near by so will try to keep you updated. Dilly

Having seen this painting of Wallasey Hall 1604 by Harold Hopps, followed by a photograph of Bird's House or The Old House, they look very similar in all ways. I'm still not convinced it was an original build in 1697. Also, does anyone know what the name Platkin might refer to as a field name Platkin Hey. I can't get a led on that at all, other than plankton. Which doesn't make much sense, does it? Sure someone will get cross, because we thought we had put this to bed.
