Yes I’ve got to agree...I liked him when he was in the jungle , he won so obviously popular. I thought he was unassuming humble guy but got to admit this programme doesn’t do him any favour, flaunting his wealth and lifestyle . On the other hand he has stated that he came from nothing so I guess he deserves credit about making it but unsavoury to brag.

Yes it just shows how alleged celebrities can make money out of everything, Harry's roly poly really, we have been subjected to this celebrity dross for years, they are willing to sell you anything via commercial adverts, a good thing for me because as soon as you see them you know to keep well away, I bet Iceland are sorry they used Kerry Catamose for the mums like us advert, you can imagine her face down in the jelly whilst the kids wreck the house, but they make a good living out of it.

They are doing a programme on how celebrities are agreeing to appear or front bogus charities for fees, guess who got caught, our old mate Harry. Same old news, gets repeated every few years. Its a sting and very hypocritical to say the least. Nobody can be expected to be at the beck and call of every charity to volunteer their services. Do Channel 4 do free advertising for every charity that asks? If so I will be getting on to them pretty soon! Some charities choose to rely totally on donations and/or volunteers, others don't and may choose to invest - in fact most charities pay for some elements of their operation, this is no different. The main charity that I am involved in have had some amazingly generous donations and rely on volunteers but we don't rule out paying for something if we think it is in the charity's interest, that would be totally silly. On occasions we contract out which can implicitly involve paying for labour, sometimes its the going rate, sometimes its discounted, its always our choice whether to pay what is asked or not. Where do you draw the line, should insurance companies feel compelled to give free insurance to every charity that asks? Electricity companies? Food suppliers? etc etc Another piece of garbage journalism that damages charities and others.

Well DD, it depends on whether the celebrity has any integrity or will just put their name to anything to make money and of course there is also the chance of receiving a knighthood if they whinge a whine enough, there are many that are genuine and deserving of the honour but those that refuse are the ones that shine, I understand what you are saying about charities and I'am sure most of use have ones that are special to our hearts, but they must also act with integrity or lose credibility and donations.

But its only the way the media put it over that makes it look like there is any problem with the integrity of the charity.
Paying out money to make more money is common sense, its not wrong in any way whatsoever.
Likewise with the celebrity, many of them already raise a lot of money for their chosen charities, if another charity comes along they can't just carry on agreeing to everything for free. If the charity considers they will make a substantial profit while also paying the celebrity then that's their choice and they can put the offer forward, neither party is (or should be) compelled by the media.
Is there any difference between hiring the O2 Arena or a celebrity or buying 50,000 posters? They are all commodities!
Like it or not all charities are financial businesses, the bigger they are the more it is necessary to pay professionals whether they be executives, accountants or celebrities. They have to develop a financial model that works for their organisation.
Even locally there are a number of charities that spend a lot of money putting events on, Claire House, Wirral Ark, WUTH Charity etc. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Attracting richer people to expensive do's to make substantial amounts of money.
