I am going to play devils advocate, so what do we do with someone who refuses to obey a legal request? give him a warning a restriction? never worked, fine him never worked, imprison him never worked, anyone. Bad generalisation . How do you know he's never worked , Casper ? Eton Drive , AIntree , is a very nice road with semi-detached bungalows. I know friends who bought a bungalow there, many years ago. He must have worked at some time in his life. You being a naughty granny again, I didn't say he never worked , maybe it was unclear but I meant all the penalties that he was given never worked, put the gloves away, kiss kiss.

"Short prison sentences are less effective than community sentences at reducing reoffending Yet, the use of community sentences has more than halved in only a decade, falling from 193,000 to 91,000 over a decade." Here is a parliament debate from the 7th of March 2019, on short prison sentences. https://hansard.parliament.uk/commo...2-B7B0-D2C180DFC6CF/ShortPrisonSentences

Some people know how to play the system - especially when it comes to environmental noise concerns. They know that councils often don't have the time, money or resources to take them further. Looks like in this case they did. Some old people develop a real bad attitude as they get older and feel their opinion is the only right one and won't listen to someone else's point of view. Like the old bat I lived nearby who didn't like me parking on the street outside her house. Or the one who left his dog outside all night barking.
