I have a census sheet from 1901 showing that my grandparents lived in Elm Grove, Liscard, with their son Thomas (later killed in WW1 at age 19 in August 1918)
Elm Grove was apparently near to Mount Pleasant Road as there were entries for this on the same sheet.
I have scoured old maps of the area, but cannot find Elm Grove, although I have found Ash Grove and Birch Grove off Seabank Road.
Does anyone have any info on Elm Grove, please?

Tom.

Elm Grove, 1901 census was enumerated between 12 and 14 Mount Pleasant Road, I reckon it was above Pleasant on the linked map, a dotted track leading to trees. Just a guess though, can't find it on any map.

An earlier map, 1876, shows the dotted path leading to Liscard Lodge prior to Mount Pleasant Rd being developed.
I suspect Elm Grove was very close to the start of that path.

Thanks for the info, Bert.
I have only one census sheet starting at 2, Elm Grove, then 3 (my grandparents), then 4, then on to 14, Mount Pleasant.
Perhaps Elm Grove was the short row just above the 'S' in Pleasant.
My family seemed fond of Upper Brighton. I was born in Sandfield terrace, and lived at one time (before the war) in Poplar Terrace.
For some reason I am told that I do not have permission to open the Liscard Lodge link, but I will work on that.

Again, many thanks for your help,

Tom.

Tom,
The previous census sheet has Mount Pleasant starting with number 10 and 12 followed by 1 to 4 Elm Grove. I agree with you, the Grove is most likely above the "S"

Definitely the properties above the "S"

The 1900 directory has 1 to 3 Elm Grove followed by Liscard Lodge, Wilhelmina Fletcher.
The 1901 census has at 14 Mount Pleasant Rd, daughter, Evangeline Bower Fletcher.
14 Mount Pleasant Rd is the Lodge.
