Hello Everyone, First post here, I am looking for any information or photographs on a property that was on Eleanor Road Bidston until around 2001. It was I believe called Bishops House and was owned by the Diocese of Shrewsbury. They demolished it and built new houses in its place. Many thanks to anyone who has any information.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure when it was built originally, probably late 1800's or early 1900's I would imagine it will have been built around the same time as the older houses in the road. There one that was built in 1880's in the road, so could quite well be around that time.

Annoyingly I can't find the property on the census forms from 1881 to 1911 or in directories.

RT REVEREND JOSEPH GRAY the Bishop Of Shrewsbury appeared to have lived here. The house may also have been known as "Weldon"

A possibility, Thomas Dash Philips lived at Weldon, I have him on the 1901 census through to his death in 1913, as it happens he was born in Weldon, Northampton. perhaps a name change, but it must have changed back. A report in the 1999 Birkenhead News ( Bishops House)
