hey folks.. Anyone had any experience in doing this? I am looking at either buying some uprated nismo engine mounts or I can use Liquid Urethane and make them go from this ![[Linked Image]](http://homepage.ntlworld.com/spythedude01/Torque-Motor-Mounts.jpg) To this ![[Linked Image]](http://homepage.ntlworld.com/spythedude01/DIY-Motor-Mount-Inserts.jpg) the benefits would be - Increase Horsepower to the Ground - Reduced Wheel Hop - More Responsive Motor The first and foremost reason for firming up your motor mounts is to hold the engine more firmly in place. Often the more pliable stock motor mounts will allow the engine to move too much - resulting in wheel hop and a loss of power. The more extreme version of this is when a an owner has increase the vehicle's horsepower more than the stock motor mounts were meant to handle. This can cause tearing the stock motor mounts as well as damage to the engine and engine bay should the engine be allowed too much movement. What do you think?

![[Linked Image]](http://homepage.ntlworld.com/spythedude01/Torque-Motor-Mounts.jpg) so urs are currently all holy? thats odd.Performance engine mounts are a great idea for anything with serious power. U dont want any of teh engines kinetic energy wasted twisting the engine on its mounts,u want it to be help tight so all its torque is applied to the driveshafts. U wouldnt want a torque wrench made of rubber would u? so engine mounts shud be as stiff as possible

omg.. How did you pass your exams mate? I asked a question and you answered it with a question!! the world isnt full of insignificant people you know? maybe READ before answering.. Do you think I am some sort of dumbass? or were you just replying to show everyone else how clever you are? I asked if anyone had done this type of thing before and not for the scientific breakdown of kinetic energy..

??? u asked "what do you think" and i replied with, basically "on a powerful engine theyre a great idea" How much would the nismo ones be? And how much wud filling urs with polyureatane cost?

The difference would be minamal mate, unless yours are faulty are simply carnt cope with the increased power then i wouldnt bother.
You could possibly get engine vibration through the stiffer engine mounts ?
Wheel Hop is caused by breaking traction and not engine mountings (unless your mountings are broken). If your only just breaking traction then your wheelspin would be a wheel hopping experiance, if your in a more powerfull car then you would break traction by allot and the wheelspin would be smooth (With loads of smoke typically)

yea.. the engine mounts are due to be changed in the next few months I reckon..
I dont have any wheel hop but I know that on nissans the mounts are not the best.. Its quite a common performance upgrade..
I am prolly going to do the urethane thingy on a spare set and when I get my new pistons and cams put in I will do the engine mounts also..
I think the vibration through the car would increase but nothing that I cant handle..
When I used to have the impreza, I can remember after going for a few hours drive, getting home and going to bed and I could still feel and hear the buzzing from the vibration..

It would be a good time to do the mounts whilst your carrying out other engine work. Nissans have ALLOT of movement as standard, causes exhausts to snap prematurly due to excessive movement of the engine. That polly grannytits stuff looks like a good idea

The only thing i know about this sort of thing is the knock sensor wouldnt retard the engine as much with uprated mounts. but i dont know if your car has one fitted.
If they wherent useful then performance centres wouldnt sell them. its a bit like performance bushes.
oh scoop, OWNED lol

oh scoop, OWNED lol Am very very confused by what you are talking about young cali. The Knock sensor detects the fuel mixture under certain loads, i.e if its running lean etc - I fail to see what an internal sensor has to do with engine movement (oh cali, OWNED). If you dont mind the extra vibrations id say go for uprated mounts, if you have used them in the past you know there reliable so stick with the same manufactorer if possible. I must admit iv never heard of liquid urethane mounts

thought the knock senser detected engine movement within the bay. oh well its just something i had heard about and thought it might of applyed. last time i try to sound clever.

A KNock Sensor does what it says on the tin, it detects engine knock....... OKay, now your asking what is engine knock

Personally I wouldnt bother with near solid engine mounts.
They are only really needed in extreme situations where std engine mounts can snap due to the power of the engine.
Solid engine mounts cause much more noise and vibration in the car and put more stress on the clutch, gearbox, cv's, driveshafts and diff as the power delivery isnt dampened.
I know a lot of people who race circuit cars and all opt for genuine std parts, or uprated rubber items as the advantages of the solid mounts are greatly outweighed by the disadvantages of using them.
Only once the engine is producing enough power and torque to require a mulitplate clutch would I think solid engine mounts would be needed as most single plate clutches will dampen the power delivery sufficiently not to excessively stress the OEM mounts.
....just my 2p's worth....

nooo they wont be solid.. the urethane comes in a few different wobbleyness's(nice word)(technical term "shore") the shore of urethane that I am looking at isnt that solid.. it actually is quite "floppy" I think the pic is a bit missleading cuz it gives you the impression that the stuff sets solid.. but it doesnt. thanks for the feedback tho.. I will post a few pics when I do it.. HERE is a link of someone who has done it allready
