and its not illegal either if your the paranoid type! Im afraid it is illegal, nearly all of the programs on that site are still under strict DMCA legislation and will be for a long time. The best place which is generally allowed is currently UK Nova - although new accounts only become poissble a small number of times each day. But, if like me, you manage to get one, it is an absolute life saver when you miss programs (and in my case lately, the Sky+ box has sound problems) and would be amazing if you were out of the country. I managed to get Webby an account on there and he forgot to use it when he was in Lapland It is generally accepted by almost all television companies, in fact the BBC even mentioned it as a good thing at a news conference regarding their new "BBC Archive". The reason it stays "accepted" by TV companies is due to the fact they have very strict rules on content you can upload - they dont allow anything that is available on DVD (their motto is, if its available on DVD, buy it) or that is not UK programming, also they restrict programs that are under intense protection such as Doctor Who etc... But for most UK programming, its there and the torrents are fast (usually at least 200KB/s+) due to the fact their tracker uses a ratio system. Deffo worth trying to get an account there. Ive been using it for about 4 months now, use it quite reguarly. Another good TV torrent site is Scene Torrents, but its nigh on impossible to get an account there, ive been trying for weeks now haha!

I'm sure you know a hell of alot more than me regarding DMCA but guba.com and veoh.com that they both use to host the files keep going on and on about it not being illegal. Whether they are trying to convince themselves I dont know, but there really isnt anything different between this site and Youtube surely? As that has mainstream TV clips on it by the thousands - I check there before TVlinks. Youtube being as high profile as it is I'm sure it wouldnt be around if it was illegal?
Anyway not splitting hairs just saying, I actually found Johanthan Creek for the first time in about a year searching so I'm watching them while I can

I know what you mean, but Youtube and the like are full of DMCA copyright violations - something which Google have announced will be getting addressed when the new content filtering system launches sometime this year. All these free video hosts are quaking at the moment due to copyright liability. If you follow the links to "24" on that site, you will notice that the content has already been removed.

Just to add, YouTube do not allow full length videos/films/programs etc and they get removed.
There is something like a suggested 9min length but people do tend to ignore that, put a 30min video of The Simpsons or something then when everyone rates it 5stars it comes to YouTubes attention and its removed. Some people rate them low to avoid this OR split a 30min video into 3 sections.

And i did think it was illegal, but hey, not like the police are gonna come to my door, but i am expecting youtube to one day get in trouble over it

Does nobody on here read the news lol? Youtube "are already" in trouble for it. They are getting threatened with legal action by multiple companies if they don't stop their users from posting copyright infringing content. Hence the reason Google have publicly announced on more then one occasion (see BBC News) that they will be introducing more stringent content filtering technologies. Expect most of the copyright content currently available at Youtube to be gone by 2008. They are also currently attempting to get a deal with record companies to distribute their music video's online, for a fee. Obviously nobody knows yet if their fee will be covered by advertising or whether they will begin to charge users to view some content... I personally think it will be the latter.

No matter what, there will always be someone who finds someway around copyright technologies. Whether it be through other sites or software.

Obviously Joe... Nobody can prevent it - but people are talking about Youtube, which will be pretty much copyright content free by the end of the year (bar the odd bit of content that manages to get through the filters).

Yes, and the same will happen to Limewire as happened to Kazaa one day. Remember, Kazaa isnt actually dead, it still runs fine, but the likes of RIAA and MPAA have put on so much crap files that its just not worth using. They will flood Limewirse soon, in fact its already started to be honest. IRC, Usenext and BitTorrent are the way forward for p2p imho (and remember p2p doesnt have to be illegal).

I didn't know that but now you mention it the deal those two kid owners got seems like even better value now than it did at the time. I'm sure Youtube will enforce this lol, but I bet they do it grudgingly. If you follow the links to "24" on that site, you will notice that the content has already been removed.:) Yeah I know but if you let the mods know it is fixed in a day or two good isnt it!
