Amp discharging, there is a solution to it but i've forgotten what it was!
When you say the amp is wired to the + on the stereo, i'm guessing you used the switched live. No problem there mate, possibly think about fitting a switch to turn the amp on/off when you want to.
I'll have a dig around and try to remember how to sort the amp thud discharge problem.

You may want to re-check the grounding of the amp.

Thr ground may be a dodgy connection to be honest.
Yes the + on the stereo is for the remote on. was not sure if this was ok or not as it runs off 12v. someone mentioned that you only needed a small amount of voltage.

nah 12V, small amount of current for the remote mate. Thats all fine. Redo the ground mate see if that sorts the thud out

same happend to me had to move were i had the ground every thing working fantastic now
