Old picture is of the original entrance.

them two pics arent the same

the top is the original main birkenhead entrance to the tunnel and i dunt recognise where the latter is, but i presume it's the dock entrance by corporation road, just doesnt look like the area though lol

I only took what you told me to take lol - iirc I said I didnt think it was the same place as the photo at the time, but you insisted it was and pointed something out that looked very similar so I just took the photo lol.

haha.

I'm trying to find an old photo of the now closed dock entrance, but I don't think one has ever been taken? If anyone passes by it, get a photie of the plaque, it tells you the date it was opened and closed.

It's by LVW/Arc Car wash/Corporation Road.

You were looking at the girl at the bus stop hence "Take a picture over there" was shouted out the car window lol..

I guess we got it wrong. frown

In all fairness we went out with only thumbnail images.

Yeah and they were dodgy too cos at the time you were having problems with your printer heads. So the photos were grainy to say the least.

lol thats no excuse...how could you get mixed up between the two.

one of them has hamilton square in the distance and that light is still there at the entrance.

mind you, the old birkenhead market thats in the background went up in flames and doesnt exist any more!

But thats another topic for another day wink

The docks tunnel entrance is the second photo in the first post. I cycle past it last week, even going down to the now closed door. It is now only used a access point for maintenance vehicles, with a large gates across it's mouth.

Ah, found out. This is Rendel St. entrance. The carvings in the Portland stone over the entrances are different on each of the 4 entrances.

The images show as links when there over 100kb in file size
its to prevent super size pictures and keeping the lay out.

I didn't know that thanks wink
