gutted fella, well one day they may be able to open up the tranmere tunnels (the bidston tunnels are a no go though now) to the public and you might be able visit here and pop along to go in them!
We live in hope, im sure they will open them one day. In the meantime, we must conquer them some day soon!

Yeah that's not coming open without a bulldozer and I hope that Tyler and John think that they're very grown up and clever........
What about the other entrance about 50 yards to the left of this one - it looked less disturbed does anyone think that there's a chance it could be dug out?

Me an le Toto had a look at it again the other day, we believe that whilst it is actually possible to get in via it, it would a lot of hard word and probably need a decent pick axe or two if not even heavier machinery. It just depends on how deep the cement and rocks go tbh. Since I took this photo, someone has had a go at digging around it, me and Totopop were intrigued to see. But they didnt really get far to be honest. Althought its still open to much debate, I am pretty sure this is the other entrance and most probably the steel door entrance, as it is very un-natural the mound and the concrete, there is a deffinate cutting into the rock and there is what looks to be a wooden beam going across the cutting.

It's sad to think that it may be many years before anyone else walks where that photo was taken!

Birkenhead Monks Tunnels. Just found this on you tube. Has this been mentioned before? I dont know where they are or if they're half as impressive as the Bidston or Tranmere tunnels but they might be worth a look. Any ideas where they are?
The Video is No longer available (You tube or owner removed it)

Ive heard of the monks tunnels, but only in the context of the ones leading from the priory itself built in the 1300's that are conpletely blocked off.
However there are loads of tunnels around there from what people have said and these could just be tunnels near the priory so classed as the monks tunnels.
The problem with that video is its very hard to see anything, for all we know they could just be in a sewer or a train tunnel lol.

Your right. They are looking more like train tunnels in the other vids. I wonder if its the abandoned tracks running under neath birkenhead?

From the SOUND of it (because the images are of no help) it's a reasonable sized tunnel. Could well be the tunnel down to the old coal sidings at Monks Ferry. Went down there moons ago (just after they lifted the track to Woodside). The branch had been lifted sometime before that.
