Tax, insurance and MOT are gunna cost £300 alone, and thats if it passes the MOT first time.

Are those headlights legal? cos ive heard aftermarket HID kits are illegal due to the beam pattern being crap. or do projector lenses solve that problem?

With regards to legality, it is a legal requirement that cars fitted with HID's as standard from factory need self leveling systems and headlight washer systems.
However, whilst strictly speaking, HID kits are illegal for other reasons, its not because you dont have self leveling motors or headlight washers and they will pass their MOT. It would take some pretty anal police to pull you over for them and this is more likely to happen if you are driving round without the projector style lenses.
Ive got an HID kit on my newish BMW through standard projector lenses and it looks standard, so no worries there.
