ok got a bmw compact and in the mornings mostly when i am going through the gears or reving there is a like rattling noise from underneath i think its something simple just wanted to know if anyone will check this out for me, might just need tightin up

Does it have an under tray?
I was coming down the motorway and i seen a BMW
with the under tray flapping like a kipper.

When you say rattle is it a matalic noise?
metal on metal?

Does it go away at all?

Could be the exhaust to be honest mate.

hi yes first thing i thaught was the exhaust had a look and dont look like anything but i have not got a clue about cars

It is a dull thudding kind of rattle or a something's loose kind of hollow rattle?

i think loose kind of hollow rattle

more often that not it'll just be the exhaust mate,either pipe on body or pipe on heatshield. get someone to rev the engine at the revs where u hear the rattle and move the tailpipe up down left and right and see if it gets better and worse..that'll more or less prove that it is the exhaust

Catalytic converter breaking up
Lambda sensor screwed into the exhaust downpipe is loose and could be rattling.
Could even be the back box, or one of the rubber mounts have come off, and it's tapping on the sump or the bottom of the car somewhere.

If it is your exhaust you'll need to get it sorted soon otherwise you'll wear a hole in it!
I had the same problem on my celica a couple of years ago, easy to sort.
