Thanks for those pictures uggla, they're fine .. the certainly did a lot of work when they refurbished the building, last time I saw that basement it looked like the mersey had been flowing through it after bidston tip had used it for an overflow.

cheshire lines basment was used for the storage of bird shit a long time ago {1950/1960s} {help with the correct name} its the stuff that is dug up from certain island abroad and loaded onto cargo ships to be processed into a very good Fertalizer. thats why to anybody who does not know what stored there the place looked like dd said

Guano is the name your looking for bud.I remember seeing a map in the archives of a guano plant on it but did not take much notice as I was looking for something different.
Guano that is. Not a very enviromentally friendly fertilizer because when they collect it they disturb the bat's natural habitat. That's why you don't see much of it in garden centres these days.
