Hopefully this can become a large topic with pictures and memories combined. It can be stretched from as far back as beyond most people can remember to as short ago as a few months back with the loss of St. Benedict's, Leasowe Primary, Wallasey School East Wing (it's how I remember it!) so hopefully people have some memories to share.

Wallasey High School or Wallasey Horse Stables as we cruelly called it when it was deaded. Forgot I had taken these.

It is indeed Mount Primary. The old school was knocked down in 2004.

I'm only 25 but of the four schools I went to three of them have been demolished, as have the two I did my work experience in as a classroom assistant! Great Meols Primary School still stands but after that it gets grim: Leasowe Primary now has housing standing on it, Mosslands now has Weatherhead on its site and half of Wallasey School's gone and is now concentrated in its West Wing (Henry Meoles). As for the work experience two, Mount is now on Mount Pleasant Road and the wooden half of Lingham Primary is demolished too!

Touch of death I've got I think. And to think, my ultimate aim is to be a teacher!

Im not off the wirral myself but its a similar story here

My infant and junior shcols were both demolished within weeks of each other, and re-built on one site as a primary

Unfortunately the hell hole secondary school still stands (just a new name)

I vaguely recall that name...if he was there in the early 80s. I was there from 79-82 when I then moved to B'head and went to B.I. My memory is never that good though I recall names like Stephen Lee and Vijay Gupter!!

For anyone living in Wallasey and knows the Tavern...here is a pic when it was a school...

Then (St James School)

Didn't he use to grab the hair on the back of your head...?

He was a hell of a character!!

When I left Cheggar at the start of my 3rd year I then moved to B'head so changed school and I remember, days before, part of the fire escape on the outside of the building had collapsed - with no injuries thankfully.

I also remember having to go to Bebington School For Girls for PE!! If I bunked off I would hide out on Town Lanes cementary (I lived in Town Lane) or in the local "dump" at the bottom of the cinder path.

Also, I was the one that dug the hole under the metal fence so that you didn't not have to walk right round to get into the Oval. That hole under the fence is still there and used by the new generation of kids!!
