I have loads of pix from the camp site in the 80`s when we went camping there! I just need to get my hands on them from my mum! I loved it there. One of the best holidays ever as a kid. Took my kids thru there not so long ago. Felt sad seeing it abandoned after we had so much fun there.
I camped there a few times back in mid to late 90's. It was a nice place to stay. Down to bad magement if you ask me. Having camped for 30+yrs, I have seen campsites that let groups stay and cause absolute caos. They should have managed it with only families and couples.
I have been camping for over 40 years and I still have a Camping Club of GB "site finder" pennant - for finding the Thurstaston site just after it opened. I can't remember when that was but "somewhere" I should have some pics of the very early camps there.
A camp at Thurstaston was always the first one of the season so that if we had forgotten anything in the camp kit I could nip home and get it

It sure is a shame, as far as I know there are no other camp sites on the Wirral, few caravan sites but none for tents, although I have seen a sign for one in neston but the gates are always locked. I would love to open up the one at Thurstaston again, it's in a great location. Would have to have great facilities and of course run as a camp site should be.... NO large groups!
Lol, Back in 2006/7 in the days when i had my beloved Probe 24V we used to camp there Best place was a field secluded in the woods, used to drive in and head for the right hand car park, go past the car park and squeeze the car inbetween the tree and the barrier, hey presto! Somewhere peacefull and safe to camp We did get funny looks off the local horse riders though but never got bothered As long as you don`t have a fire and you take your rubbish all is fine
