Thats a superb car. Doesnt half bring back some memories that. First car I remember my dad having was one of them. In red, with one of those weird and pointless black slatted grills on the rear window. Superb, and for the mileage.

I had the 1800 injection, drove it to london 4 times in 1 weekend...! Got over 140 mph out of it, thrashed within an inch of its life! Also had the MK1, 2.0! Mate of mine worked in Vauxhalls at the time and was wellinto his Mantas. Bought everything new thru them, rebuilt his with a 2.2 engine, fast as fook! omg

Enough with the old Vauxhalls hahahaha.

They should really have someone look at the spelling before advertising on Ebay.

nah its actually an orginal silver audi quattro...it was shown on men and motors...
the vauxhall in question couldnt hook up...even tho its street legal....and it DIDNT win...because it wasnt on a proper racetrack...just on a normal bit of tarmac

it wasnt so much the horsepower...it was the fact the vauxhall couldnt get any traction..its built for super sticky santapod type raceway.
men and motors had a similar drag race...but on a bit of normal tarmac..i remember seeing the red vauxhall...but it came 2nd or 3rd...it just couldnt hook up.
A silver audi quattro that had been well worked over won...and 0-60 was like 2.6 seconds...i remember being very suprised...it was totally down to the fact they were just on normal tarmac.

i was looking on youtube..but couldnt find anything...plus my computer got all sorts of viruses on it...and spent most of last night fixing them..
the search will continue...

Dialynx Modified Audi to Take Worlds Fastest Car Title?
Date: Thursday, March 27 @ 09:52:47 UTC
Topic: Audi in Motorsport

We Spoke to keith from Dialynx Performance (www.dialynx.co.uk), and we asked him about going for the title of the UK's fastest Accellerating car to 60mph.
He was invited into a UK competition to find the UK's fatest car to 60mph. The criteria was that the car had to be made road legal, and this was done over winter.
Once at the event, other vehicles attempting this feat included 10 "road legal" dragsters, some with around 1500bhp. What didn't help them was their lack of traction. They were not allowed to warm up their tyres (you wouldn't on the road!) The nineteen entrants included various Japanese street machines, a twin engined Mini and even a Nova. There was a strong showing from the Street Legal Drag Racers club.

With only half a second splitting the top five entrants it was a closely fought contest.
Coming out on top was Keith Murray in his short wheel based Audi quattro with a time of 3.07 seconds. (This is not the first time he's achieved quick times- see GTI International and Performance VW Magazine for more details....) Second place went to Sue Jackson in her Corvette which recorded a time of 3.27 seconds followed by Jeff Seddon in his twin engined Golf in 3.3 seconds.
The competition was organised by the the extreme machines show crowd. (www.extrememachinesshow.com) Who are holding their first show at Donington Park over the weekend of August 24 & 25th.
The car is a Dialynx swb special with lots of power, carbon fibre body panels, lightened parts (including engine internals, magnesium wheels, etc.) The engine was running at approximately 620bhp, using last years engine (!)
There is a new engine for this year, which should run at around 700bhp..... (I can imagine Owen frothing at the mouth reading this...)

The time trials were done at a private venue near Derby, but it was all caught on film by the guys and gals from Men & Motors TV programme. (Sky digital) This will be screened on Saturday 3rd, Sunday 4th and Tuesday 6th of May.

As for the evidence that the twin Hyabusa engined "Tiger" holds the record- it doesn't count. It isn't classed as a production car- at least 10 have to be made....
Keith now has to put evidence forward to Guiness with regards the cars' "legality" and eligibility, then the times may be put forward to Guiness for the world record. (He needs to show evidence that Audi produced cars like this)
The car will be at the event at Donington on 23 & 24 August, and the club aims to be there to witness the spectacle....
