I would be interested in seeing your 1911 map I have a 1909 Birkenhead map bought £2-25 from main library and it has PH for public house marked in many roads but no sign of one in Brooke St of one behind the Myrtle The nearest I can see is The Grand Trunk

If this had been up a little earlier there could have been a couple of entries for the Twenty Row and The Leasowe perhaps. Sandwiched in between is, of course, the Oyster Catcher.
Also, on the site of where St. Mary's College is now there was a pub called the Traveller's Rest. Couple of pictures in one of the Yesterday's Wirral book, plus there was the old brewery on Leasowe Road roughly where West Wallasey Van Hire is I think now...

As an add-on, the brewery would have been approximately where the tree is on the corner of Leasowe Road and Mosslands Drive, not where the above post is. Wallasey Vale Brewery.

Mark, there are a number of duplicate posts:
149 Grand Trunk 165 Blue Bell 228 Copperfield 243 Abbotsford 277 Fireman's Arms
These all have the same pictures in each of two posts
269 Prince William is duplicated but has different pictures of the Prince William in each
626 number is duplicated but one is the Fisherman's Arms and the other is the Cool Room
627 number is duplicated but one is the Greek Taverna and the other is the Chetwynd Arms
418 number is duplicated but one is the Lighthouse Inn and the other is the Chetwynd Arms
(note that the Chetwynd arms is in both 418 and 627)
The Alexandra Hotel appears as both 357 and 146 (same picture in each)
Hope this helps a bit.

I am using pub 244 Lord Raglin hotel as a refference point. the Raglin is as you all know is on the corner of Union Street and New Chester Road. Before Bathers the tyre company built there current building and the cash and carry place was built there where 3 streets in total along side Union Street. They where Clare St, Croxteth St, and Spring St, which is the street that Bathers is on the corner off now. All of these streets led onto New Chester Road the same as Union Street does. When those 3 streets had houses in them there where 2 more pubs, one at the bottom of Spring St and one at the bottom of Croxteth St. One of them was known as the Little House. They where still there in the late 1950s. so thats not long ago for some of us older gents.
