Did you mean the Greyhound in Saughall? Used to be my local. Stan ran a tight ship. If you went into the lounge wearing jeans, he "suggested" you might feel more comfortable in the bar!! No musak and any bad language was viciously stamped on !!
Don't recall a pub in Shotwick village.
You're correct, there are no pubs in Shotwick today, however in the past there was at least one inn, The Greyhound, there is a picture of it here, it closed in 1915 because of 'drunkenness on the Sabbath'. This was due to Irish farm labourers from farms on the other side of the Welsh Border three miles away. Wales, at that time, was 'dry' on a Sunday and the nearest pub open was the Greyhound.
Thanks uptoncx. You are a mine of information ! Never realised there was a pub in Shotwick. Been past that house quite a lot en route to the marshes. Wonder if the Saughall Greyhound took the name after the Shotwick one closed ??
382 Royal Hotel, Woodchurch Road. Was closed some time before christmas and the board nailed up outside which has become the norm, saying a bussness opertunity available. I passed it today and some one has taken up the opertunity and it is now OPEN AGAIN

Also, the Cool Room is on Twice ( 645 and 628) but 628 is also Travellers Rest Wallasey.
636 Greyhound Inn Shotwick, is missing off the index
and the following have been given new numbers, but are on the index: 414 Argyle Hotel should be 10, 637 Great Float should be 490, 651 Stanley, Eastham should be 596.
Hope this helps a bit, if it doesn't just tell me to go away.

Not sure about the "Pubs with Posts" threw me that one.
The 'Pubs with Posts' is just my list of all the pubs that have had pictures posted, it's just how I am keeping track of the numbers, sorry to cause confusion
The Park View 151, Duke Street. At the top of the building there is a sign saying Grand Trunk Hotel. {Yet in the list of pubs 149 is listed as the Grand Trunk hotel, Dock Road.} anybody throw any light on this

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Greenland Fishery in Neston. It dates back to the 1600's and is said to be the only pub in the country with this name
