Fortunately, very little history was lost to the flames. Two witches broomsticks used to hang from the celing near the main fireplace. According to local legend, if something were to happen to either of them, something bad would happen to the pub. One of the broomsticks was stolen just before the fire... The remaining one is now re-instated, further out of reach, and has a toy witch perched on it.
