Sam Scotts Millinery in Lord St Birkenhead? had my 1st job there at 16 straight from school, no work experiance then, just straight in and if you did'nt like it...tough luck! but jobs were easy to come by then! you left on the Friday and started another on Monday! not like now...were you have to have NVQs for practically everything! what ever happened to apprenticeships? were you learnt on the job?
I remember my 1st day at Sam Scotts...4/8/67 [oops..giving my age away now!!] ....on the sewing machines..machining pieces of paper untill i did a straight line then i was given proper work to do! all for £4 a week! and when i was trained it went up to £8!!
