Re. The beefeater- i was sooo jealous of the kids that got to eat in them toadstool things! But..what i cant remember what the big house looked like before them 'olde worlde' shops. I left moreton in 1989-well, me mum did i had no choice! Everythink seems small. Getting off the bus+ walking down orchard road home (i lived on the 'new estate')- road seemed really really long-its not!

What about Rock Ferry in the 60's. Shallcross's Bike & Toy shop, the cafe next to the station bridge in Bedford Road which sold delicious ice cream, The Chinese Laundry , Exchange & Mart the antique shop whose owner was fortunate to acquire a genuine Rubens painting for a song & sell it for a large amount of cash. He always wore a sheepskin coat & looked like a spiv. He drove round in a large American 'Rambler' car. There was the coffee bar on the corner of Bedford & New Chester Roads.Bob Simister's motor bike showroom. The shops used to extend almost to St. Pauls Rd. & to Grove Road.
Bob.

Was a bit crappy though, and at the time a little out of the main shopping area of Moreton (not far i know) but things where more centralized down on the cross back then funny you should say that coz we rarely ventured past where iceland is now. That is prob why i remembered the 'argos' type shop -out me comfort zone. Lol

I remember there being a couple of housefires on the New Estate. The houses got boarded up and you could see the burn marks on the brick work. I remember walking past them on my way too Eastway Nursey.
