More likely to be Coopers as they were grocers, whereas Kardomah was an up-market tea and coffee restaurant.

I see 'Showman' has gone too - they were a boys/menswear shop just a couple of doors down from Coffee Roast Bistro and had been there since the late 70s/early 80s. Next months update on my site is the shops on Seaview Road and I am having to keep changing it due to the shops closing. 'House' furnishing is up for sale on the corner of Grasmere Drive.
Also, not a shop I know, but I see the old bus stop has gone that was outside Wilkinsons on Wallasey Road! It was generally used as a shelter when waiting for a black cab. It was a nuisance when it was there when trying to get pass people with prams or shopping.

I note after nearly 60 years of buisness the Coffee Roast Bistro on Seaview Road Wallasey has closed. Does anyone remember the Kopper Kettle, a cafe on Seaview Road near the bus depot in the early 80s? My grandad ran it for a couple of years.

It was situated at 106 Seaview Road and by the early 1990s it became 'The Oven Door' Cafe. Today its 'The Singing Waitress" Cafe.

Does anyone remember the Melody Milk Bar? Later the Dynasty chinese (known as the Die Nasty} and later and extension to Bookland. My sister used to take me there. I remember signs saying 'business lunch three course 5/- (25P).

Me too! - one of the nicest smells in the world, fresh roasting coffee beans wafting through the air! Didn't they used to have the coffee roaster in the window, or am I thinking of somewhere else? Quite definitely the Coffee Roast used to have the drum roasting machine visible in the window Snod

Melody must have closed mid sixties. The Dynasty opened about then. I remember the coffe roasting drum in the window of the Coffee Roast but I don't think it was working then, just for display. The Coffee Roast was only one shop then not two.

So I do have at least one brain cell still functioning then - I was pretty sure but I'm glad someone else remembers it too!! Perry
