Reeds Lane : Closed (leasowe train station) This is due to track repairs. There must be a bus replacement for the trains too.
Not sure when it ends the road closure.
The West Kirby tracks will be replaced first, with work starting on Friday, October 7 and taking nine days. Work on the New Brighton line will start on Saturday, October 15 and finish on Sunday, October 23.
Accident involving several cars in the Northbound contraflow between J5 and J4 M53, one lane was blocked as I passed it but recovery vehicles were on the scene. Tailbacks both ways.
Traffic backed up both ways, suggest you avoid if possible. Just taken us an hour to come through from Ellesmere Port to Clatterbridge. Crashed vehicles lined up in one lane. Recovery vehicles coming in from Birkenhead direction to access.
The mobile matrix signs of doom appeared a few days ago warning of major road works at Moreton cross. They do not state for how long but I am planning to avoid it like the plague as any roadworks in Moreton always cause huge queues.

BOTH MERSEY TUNNELS TO CLOSE ON NOVEMBER 30 DAY OF STRIKE ACTION
It has been confirmed today that both Mersey Tunnls will be closed to traffic on November 30, the day that many trade unions have chosen to voice their protest at the general state of the economy
It is not clear as yet whether bus and train services will be affected by the strike.
A554 King's Parade both ways closed due to flooding between Coastal Drive and Bayview Drive. The windy conditions on the coast have led to waves crashing over the road, making it impassable. Diversion: Coastal Drive
Crash at St Hillarys roundabout, restricting & diverting traffic right at this moment
emergency services are attending right as i post this.
heck, they've all gone now! that was fast!
For future warnings, BIKERS: please be careful approaching this roundabout ESPECIALLY when the weather is at its worse The road surface from Breck Rd (right at the corner of Breck Rd & Wallacre Rd)approaching right up to the roundabout is very very dangerous.
Both Tunnels shut atm Queensway closed for roadworks Kingsway closed due to Police Incident???? Tailbacks for miles on both sides now If you where planning to use one best going around
Traffic is all backed up for miles on the motorway here, Bidston bypass, (next to B&Q) ummm its the lane towards Dock Rd & B/head North. The tunnel lane is open though.
Police are pulling people up travelling across 4 bridges, heading from Wallasey into Birkenhead. Searching cars and breathalising people, checking doc's tyres etc etc.
Twelve Quays lift bridge out of action this weekend:
The lift bridge close to Twelve Quays ferry terminal, which links Birkenhead and Wallasey, will be closed this weekend to allow engineers to carry out repairs ahead of major works scheduled early next year.
The "A" bridge on Tower Road will be closed this Saturday and Sunday December 10 and December 11, to allow the works to be carried out.
Motorists will instead be diverted over Duke Street bridge for this weekend. Signs showing the diversion routes will be in place.
A four-week major repair programme on the lift bridge is scheduled to begin – weather-permitting – immediately after the New Year when motorists will again have to divert to the Duke Street crossing.
A Wirral Council spokesman said: “We apologise for having to close the bridge this weekend at such short notice and we regret the inconvenience it will cause.
"However, the works are necessary to allow the bridge to continue to be used safely until the full programme of repairs, which is planned to begin the first week in January, can take place.”
just to give a heads up... traffic northbound, towards Moreton/Upton/Arrowe Park/Bromborough/Ellesmere Port, on the M53 is backed up and going real slow, right from the start of the bypass (Dock Rd entrance & tunnel entrance).
A water pump operated by Network Rail and situated in the tunnel under the river bed was leaking onto the tracks. the water was above the running rails and blew the cables feeding the signals and track circuits, also set fire to 8 insulating pots which grease the wheels as they pass over them. Network Rail had to wait until the water receded before being able to get to the faults.
Not Merseyrail's fault although they always get the blame!
The insulator pots support the live rail. Nowt to do with greasing the wheels. If there's a pumping fault it'll be at Shore Road Shaft or Mann Island. Unlikely all pumps would fail at once. IF a pump fails, an alarm comes up. On a visit to the drainage heading some time ago. I was told by the fitters that it takes four hours for water ingress to reach the 3rd rail at river bed. Game over! The track circuits would short out first as the water "bridged" the running rails. All signals to red and train stops "up".
The drainage heading is under the main tunnel. The highest point of the heading is under the lowest point of the main tunnel. Water then gravitates down to sumps at Shore Road or Mann Island. Bonzo sized Sulzer (or they were) "down the hole" pumps bring it to surface drains.
Here endeth the lecture !! Is anyone still awake ? The above bumf was gleaned a few years back. Also in some equally old books I have. Things could have changed of course. Thanks gopher for the heads up on this.
They checked the pumps, all were working ok, but there was a big enough hole in one of the pipes to allow the leakage over night so no warning lights or alarms registered in the control room, so the water built up and was noticed by the driver of an empty stock train at 05.15, trains were allowed to carry on under caution but the level reached the rails and then Bobs your uncle.NO TRAINS
The A5137 Brimstage Road in Heswall is closed both ways after a lorry hit the railway bridge and overturned between Acre Lane and Whitehouse Lane. It's affecting traffic between Heswall and the M53.

I opted to use the M62 having heard about this - put about 15 mins on my journey. Pity the poor poeple stuck there in this heat and thoughts to the driver.

Traffic jam junction 8 e port on motorway. Traffic diverted off motorway. From 7 to 8 heading away from birkenhead. I think I heard vehicle fire on the radio.
Church Road, Higher Tranmere, Birkenhead. Closed between Seymore Road and Thompson Street due to large crane in road demolishing one of the few remaining buildings.
NO advance warning and NO signed diversion. Prople are just having to find their way down through the little back streets. Many are getting lost and turning around.
It is hard to tell if this is planned or emergency work, but either way, it seems badly managed.
Sheridan's was burnt down last night, the police were there about 8am, diggers were in about 2pm razing it to the ground. Had a City Link artic trying to get down one of the side roads which cars were having difficulty getting through. Such a shame really, they were probably the only butchers that were open til 10pm. Surely this row is the last of the buildings waiting to be demolished. Council arson crew in again last night?
Also, Telegraph Road between Caldy RUFC and Cottage Loaf has one way traffic controlled by lights; looks like they are rebuilding a section of stone wall. Not a problem now, but could be a pain during the school rush/rush hour this afternoon.
Woodchurch slip onto the motorway heading towards Liverpool - 2 vehicle RTC. One vehicle is pointing the wrong way, Police & Paramedics in attendance so avoid if possible.
