That's £1.60 each way = £3.20 per day = £16.00 per week = £832.00 per year (£780.00 using fastTag) Yer it's only 10p like....... Yes, but only £50 extra. Precisely. If you can't afford an extra £50 a year then maybe best just to move to Liverpool.

Those Land Rover Disco's arent cheap you know. You dont expect them to use Kia's or something do you?? A top of the range off roader is just too much of a necessity in a tunnel to skimp! If you need a tow out than a Kia is not likely to be as much use as a Land Rover is it? No there there just to look good, They don't even use them to tow, I got towed by one of there galaxys last month. And didn't get charged witch I was very suprized about.

I think this 10p is to justify the new 40mph signs in the wallasey tunnel and the terrible white cladding in the birko one.
Uncertainty or not knowing causes depression, Im happy because I know I'm going to die one day!

I have said for years that the toll should be scrapped. Merseyside is covered by one police force so in a police area you should be able to travel freely on roads if you pay your MOT,Tax,Insurance and petrol. The money people say it's needed for maintenance etc but that could be raised in other ways surely. Costs would be lower without all the booths, staff tunnel police and so on.
I would like a monthly boycott of the tunnels were everyone who needs to get to or from Liverpool uses the Runcorn bridge, traffic would be to a standstill, business would be affected so they would soon come on board (ironically they would benefit from free tunnels also). When boycotting have picket lines trying to shame those who do go through.
Can anyone explain this, what price on train for 3 stops at peak times?
What price on train to do 3 stops from Ham square to L/pool too, do the train users have this daily £3.20 extra added onto their journey for use on the tunnels under water?

I think this 10p is to justify the new 40mph signs in the wallasey tunnel and the terrible white cladding in the birko one. The signs are because the speed limits in the tunnels are set as a bye-law, which require repeater signs, they haven't had these before but have now been "found out" as someone had a speeding ticket quashed in the courts because of this. For years the tunnels haven't had these signs (and the ones telling you the limit are on a big information board as well), which means that every single speeding ticket ever issued for speeding in the tunnel was unlawful. The lovely bright white cladding in the tunnel (paid for by the fees and supposedly to aid cleaning and safety) was to enable the tunnels to mirror those in the States (who won't close them on a whim) so that film crews can use them for various movies, and if need be superimpose a different image onto the white. The "new" vehicles, as well as the usual lights and disco are now fitted with recording equipment, ( cameras and monitors) as well as calibrated speedometers. If you think their cars cost money, just remember that for a little over 3.5 miles of tunnels (yes I know they cover the slip roads as well) Mersey Tunnels Police employ over 50 officers.
