The Shakespeare, on King's Square opposite the main Birkenhead Market steps and next to the tunnel entrance, pictured in 1961. This Pub was known locally as 'The Big Shakey' to distinguish it from the other Shakespeare Pub not far away on the corner of Waterloo Place / Chester Street - which was known as 'The Little Shakey.
