Hi,Am after someone who could be so kind in letting me mind their dog for a few days (and in the future) so my 3yr old son can get use to dogs, ever since he got attacked by one he does not like them so I thought I could ask to mind someones dog for a few days to give my son more confidence when it comes to dogs.he likes other animals but hates dogs and I don't wanna buy one for the wrong reasons so I rather mind someones. A small dog is preferred, that loves kids and is house trained.thanks any advice is welcome

What a great idea, though I doubt anyone would be willing to part with their fur baby, and it could upset the dog.A frightened dog might be dangerous.
Why don't you go to your local park and ask people if he can pet their dog,any decent owner would tell you how their dog might behave.
Good luck.x

some might see that as being cruel to your son bringing a dog into the home knowing it will will scare him.

I think this is a really good idea as long as it is dealt with correctly. As you say you say you will need a calm, playable child friendly dog. What you don't want is for the dog to become scared as this may have an adverse effect on your child. Maybe a couple of hours at a time for your child to get used to a dog might be better to start with

As the child wont be able to go through life completely avoiding dogs, I reckon his dad is being entirely responsible in trying to build up his confidence and allay his fears as early as possible . Imagine the problems if this isnt addressed now . A teen who can only visit mates or date girls that dont have a dog. A adult who can only train for jobs that dont involve going into peoples property incase they have a dog. An adult who walks everywhere in fear just incase a dog comes towards him. That would be so sad.

Might be worth getting in touch with a dog obedience company, most will do puppy classes. They will be able to advise on the best course of action to get your son back to liking dogs.
