Was Ye Olde Boat House Inn Magazine Brow Magazine pub

or Pilot Boat pub
or an entirely different one

Pilot Boat as far as I know. Magazines has been called that for years although there was a Black Horse there at one time which may have been the Magazines?

Looking at structure, chimneys and
cottage to right, it is the Pilot Boat.

The Boat house Hotel became The Pilot Boat, the Magazine and the Pilot appear together in the 1952 Telephone Directory as separate establishments.

Has more than one type of spirits in its cellar, apparently....

Interesting story but total fiction! That 'coffin lid' dates from the 1980's and I remember it being bought brand new for the pub following a revamp. Lots of them were around in pubs at the same time with different subjects, sailors, soldiers, old men etc. Post mortems were carried out at the Pilot Boat but 'Jake Bolt' was not one of them.
