Thought I`d have a change from Birkenhead Docks and post a few of Egremont Ferry The Mersey covered in ice during the winter of 1895. A Wallasey ferryboat leaves the Egremont running out stage, and to the right a sailing ship anchored in the river.

Egremont ferry in the late 1890's. During this period Egremont and Seacombe began to rapidly expand as new houses and roads were built.

The Egremont passengers foot bridge which connected the pier to the running out stage. The pier and running out stage were constructed 1874-6

Snow covers the road and gardens at Egremont. On the beach is the coal barge Emily, which supplied the Wallasey ferryboats with coal Emily Built 1895 John Scott & Co., Kingshorn

On the left of this view the buildings that belong to Wallasey ferries, in front of which on the shore was a grid-iron where ferry boats could be beached at Egremont for minor repairs

The Egremont pier collapsed while rebuilding work was being carried out on the ferry pier. This view of the buckled iron work is dated 14 February 1909

The oil tanker British Commander aground and having demolished a large section of the ferry pier at Egremont. The accident happened in 1933 and the following year ferry service reopened

In May 1941 the Egremont ferry pier was rammed by the coasting steamer Newlands. This view shows how much damage was caused by the vessel

The Egremont landing stage later towed away to Tranmere and broken up. The pier was demolished in 1946 and the stone slipway beneath taken away

I have had some for years lurking on my other computers. Having merged/sync another computer more files come to light. I do have lots of the slums of Liverpool somewhere but they have not appeared yet.
