Today was a nice day ;D Collected the rest of the Mini interior yesterday smile It's all looking well, just fitted the carpets and seats just to give an idea of what it will be like inside thumbsup

Cleaned up the subframe and underside of the vehicle, used petrol as turps was strong enough! All that wax, had preserved lots over time! ;D

Also welded up a hole in the passenger rear wheel arch, sanded down and partly primered underneath. Anyway here's the pics, from quite a productive day!

Pics are in the wrong order, but hey lol

Still cant get a quote below £1600 even with Liverpool Victoria frown

Cheers for the compliments Mark, much appreciated! happy

It's the Mini bug, once you've got it you can't get rid of it! pray

Cleaned the subrame with petrol, will sand it down and re-piant it in chassis black, including the radius arms etc.

The problem at the moment is car insurance, Im performing loads of quotes Liverpool Victori, e Modified Car Insurance, Money Super Market n all the rest of it! BUT Cannot get a quote below approx £1600

Exhaust mods
Flared wheel arches
Non-standard sized alloys
Interior modifications (even tho its still a Mini interior!)

Argh...

Have you tried getting quotes from Moneysupermarket.com for basic quotes (wihout the mods) first matey?? Do you really have to list the interior mods if its just a mini interior? I know insurance compnies can be a pain, but their not usually too bothered about interior, so long as its pretty standard and nothing particuarly fancy.

Might lower the price a touch.

Your doing an absolutely fantastic job matey, keep it up, it will be worth all the effort when it's finished and ya out n about driving it!

Yer I've done moneysupermarket, n got quotes of about £1000 without the mods, but then when I listed the mods n put in my details it went upto £5000 how can they justify that!? smack

Oh and another thing I found was that post codes have risk level areas, mine happens to be a D* (A low risk - F - high risk) So that puts my insurance up loads! Its only bloody Pensby, I tried a quote, from my Girlfriends house, eveything the same except the address of course... turned out £300 cheaper! mad

Im not a happy bunny lol I did one of those Live chat things with LV, and asked them about interior, the guy stressed that any changes from standard must be listed.. errmm no matee lol They well wouldnt get onto it being different interior as it is still a Mini interior, but the thing is its a risk...

================================================================

Anyone know of any more insurance companies?

Im with Quinn Direct, they worked out far cheaper for me when I was getting quotes then even Liverpool Victoria.

Mind you, due to them making mistakes, its now only costing me £15 per month to insure my car... they say I have 3 yrs NCB when I told them I only have 1 yr... and for some reason their charging me about £8 per month less then they should be!

Not that im complaining smile

Once your 18 the cost of the insurance might come down a bit, its worth considering that.

So remember to give your birthday in as a few months earlier when getting quotes, (as it would be a few months later when you would even consider taking a quote) to see if it makes any difference. You can be amazed at the scams insurers try and pull off.
