I am in the process of writing the history of my father's early life and his time spent in the RAF in WW2. He joined the RAF in 1939 at the age of 17, before that he worked at a printers in London.
I have an envelope from a letter posted to him in London from Moreton in April 1936, when he would have been 14 years old. Unfortunately I don't have the letter itself, but the back of the envelope is stamped:

"Robinson Bros. Barnston Lane Moreton Wirral"

I have had no luck in finding out what Robinson Bros did or exactly where they were, so hoping someone on the forum might be able to help me discover why my father wrote to them in 1936.
Thanks in anticipation

I'll look in to it further, this may be a clue,

1938 Directory,
Miss Eliz Annie Robinson, The Haven, Barnston Lane, Moreton, Wirral.

1939 Register,
Elizabeth Annie Robinson, above Address, occupation, Foreign Stamp Dealer.

Did your father collect stamps?

Well, yes he did! And I still have his stamp collection in the original album (a bit chaotic as you might expect from a young teenager).
So I think you have solved this for me, thank you.

I was looking for some industrial premises with "Robinson Bros" above the door!!!

Best regards
