A bit more on the story from yesterday's Echo Wed 27th March
Sad to see it close.
It was put on the market a couple of years ago in trade papers, with no 'For Sale' boards up. This was viewed by some as a bit of a 'fishing trip' to see how it sat on the property market. I think the advertised price (then) was about £2M.
I liked the Queens, had a few meals and a drink in there, also remember it as a Berni Inn, Friday night with the good lady, we thought we were the kids then.
Looks like the Queens Royal has been saved from demolition and is in advanced stages of refurbishment. From what I can tell, it appears to have been taken over by an established restaurant/hotel chain.
