Four and a half yrs since I had my treatment at Clatterbridge. . It was absolutely heaving , daily. At least 5 radiotherapy rooms and everyone used approx. every 10 mins. From 8.30am to 6pm and beyond sometimes, to clear the areas. So if treatment has been reduced to a lesser degree in Clatterbridge, I would say that was necessary to cope with demand.

Many did come from outside of the areas, eg Isle of Man , They (or their relatives)would have accommodation for their period there, but now they have transferred to Fazakerley. Must say, Liverpool accommodation is much more expensive and not such a nice place to be holed up in, with stress ,nerves and a general feeling of being worried about your nearest and dearest.
Even so, many Wirral patients were treated there at Clatterbridge and what an excellent place it was/is, from every angle.

The cancer unit also had free parking

Don't think the big move has happened yet DD, maybe bits have moved over but eventually there will be no wards at the Beb site but I think it will still have a couple of radiotherapy machines left . Don't know what will happen to all those wardsjust been totally refurbished in the last few years, maybe go private?there is still lots going on at Clatterbridge Beb that will stay. Become a sattalite centre for CCC. Is that what you heard Missy?

I don't know what services remain at Clatterbridge but a lot are done at Aintree, they seem to have removed the emphasis that Aintree would be the main site and now say its networked service across ten sites. There is reference to Aintree as a satellite - I hope they aren't as confused as I am.

First treatment at Aintree happened in early 2011.

We have digressed from Arrowe Park parking charges, but little point in starting another thread for Clatterbridge.

It is confusing, but after having a good look at different sources last night, it would appear that there is still to be certain cancers treated at Clatterbridge. The Sulley Ward, which I think used to be for those patients from the Isle of Man, will be used for patients aged 16 to 24, and the new Papillion Centre, which was only completed a couple of years ago, has been opened as a specialist centre for rectal cancer/bowel cancer. Treatment having been pioneered by a particular consultant who worked/works at Clatterbridge and is now hoping to see it go world wide. We have amazing people in this area.
Therefore, it could be that each hospital will be used for a different type of cancer, but as Cools says, it's not being made very clear.

They are saying the increase is because of the company that provides the barriers have put their charges up,so why not have the barriers taken down and have free car parking for everyone ? The land belongs to the hospital(I assume) so if they're not making any profit from the car park, what's the problem in removing the barriers. The fees must be going to the hospital, and the land must belong to the hospital, otherwise they would surely not be allowed to deduct the staff car parking charges from wages. If they are collecting it on behalf of another company ....I find that quite unethical mainly due to the fact that the NHS will be getting interest on the massive amount of fees collected. That can't be right ,Can it ???

New exit at A1 cark Park.
Current terms of parking.

Barriers replaced by plastic temp ones as Car Park A1 looks to be Extended, but will it remain free??.

Just as a heads up, the staff at the Royal Liverpool to pay £35.00/month minimum by salary deduction to use parking facilities at the hospitals within the trust.

That's a big chunk of money out your wages. Doesn't seem right to me that you should have to pay to go to work. Scandalous!

Looks like the changes are going to be very soon, as the barriers and the machines have now been removed from the car park around the back and put on this new exit.
Top picture. Its the car park around the back or left of the main hospital.

Frustrating parking at Arrowe Park Hospital today.

New parking spaces and trees being removed causing chaos as there fencing off the areas to be worked on.

This is the free car park around the back not in front of the hospital.

Avoid today and at least tomorrow if you can.

It's chaos up there at the best of times, think it would be wise to get the bus. I would always park in the Arrowe park pub years ago when I had to visit there, but they have stopped you doing that threats of clamping etc....

Cools, there is a bus (or there used to be) from Sainsbury's car park on the Upton roundabout, down to APH. That seems a better option, as there is really nowhere else about to put a vehicle any longer.
