That will be it. Thanks again. Just doing a bit of research on the house where I was born following the BBC programme A House Through Time. It's fascinating trying to find out about those who went before

The family I'm interested in are the Porteous Family. I think they lived in Harland Rd before moving to Carlton Rd in 1926. The father ( Thomas) was a joiner and they had 6 daughters. The mother and one daughter died in same year 1917. I just wondered what their story was and what became of them

The 6 daughters you know about, they also had a son, Thomas Percival Porteous, 1883-1918, he was a mariner and gained his 2nd mates certificate in 1915, address 27 Harland Rd. Thomas Porteous was recorded in the 1911 directory and the family on the 1911 census at Harland Rd. The road itself was mentioned in the papers as early as 1874.

Burials,
Mary Jane Porteous, 63, Feb 28, 1917, Bebington cemetery, Private Grave, wife of Joiner, 27 Harland Rd, Tranmere.
Thomas Percival Porteous, 35, Nov 8, 1918, Bebington Cemetery, Joiner, 27 Harland Rd.
Thomas Percival was an apprentice joiner, 1901 census, he must have went away to sea some time after.

Interesting name Porteous, dates back to Roman times I think it means gatekeeper.
