Saw this on another forumn. Thought it was important to spread the word.
"Don't feed your dogs food bought from B+M i.e. beef jerky dog treats etc. Apparently injected with something that destroys the kidneys, two dogs had to be put down. Vet has reported it but could take time for stores to clear shelves "
Hope this ok to report on here , as I say just sharing someone's post.

This is a hoax that developed from a number of FDA reports from 2010 to 2012 because of some Chinese products.

It runs the rounds every year and is totally unfounded.

Omg is it really DD. Sorry peeps if I alarmed anyone I even sent texts to anybody I know with a dog! It did cross my mind if it was true or not but thought if it wasn't and I hadn't warned anybody I would feel terrible .
It sounded so convincing once again sorry for posting...

No offence to the O.P who clearly had good intentions but surely this proves how easily propaganda works? smile

Might be a hoax made about a specific store maliciously , but generally speaking , I believe there IS a small risk of getting toxic rawhide treats/toys still, and ALL rawhide chews can be dangerous if the wrong size is given to the wrong size or temperament of dog , through choking and blockages. Personally I think its perfectly possible that the highly coloured chewies you see in cheap chain stores and markets , for SOME of the batches that come in , may be on the edge of having acceptable levels of toxins .Why wouldnt there be since theres few controls , and strong chemicals HAVE to be used to prepare the hides? Dog sites , veterinary , insurance, and dog club types , litter the internet with such warnings. Surely they cant ALL be wrong.

With respect, there is a need to apologise, which they have done, so no problem. Obviously done with the best of intentions, but posting on social media about boycotting B&M over unfounded allegations could cause harm to a business. It is always best to try and fact check a chain mail before forwarding.

S*n, Daily Fail, Express reader types do it all the time....but they also harm marginalised people. That to me is more concerning than business.
