Looking for suggestions for nice place to eat on Wirral on a saturday night that can cater for about 12 to 15. variety of food rather than single cuisine. (not as far as chester). Riverhill oxton came to mind till i just read latest feedback. on my list so far Red Fox Thornton Hough Fox and Hounds Barnston (only because its just been done out)
your top 1 or 2?
cheers

P.S. where you get food on a plate rather than a piece of artwork

Royal Oak, Bromborough, a bit more space than most places. Used to go regularly but not been for a while.

Red Fox is said to be very good
Boat House Parkgate (although it could well be booked up)
Chow's Parkgate They use a top room for larger parties (or they did)
Last one I most recently went to was Pollards in Willaston. Very nice.

I can go round the art gallery if i want to see works of art. . cheers DD Will check out Royal Oak.....must be 40 years since was last in there.. Think ive viewed about 20 online and some very nice ones as well.

Fox and Hounds Barnston is good too. It's been done out now and could probably handle that number. Worth a call. We had a very nice meal there the other evening.
Another popular venue is the Refreshment Rooms in Rock Ferry. (Used to be a grotty pub called the Admiral which was done over) We've had excellent food there and I walk the dog near there. It is getting hard to park there now it's getting so popular.
You might also try the Wheatsheaf in Raby. That's very good too!

Grove House in Wallasey but due to the lateness of your search and party size you may not get a table, normally book 6 weeks in advance. The Manor Greasby Amara Wallasey Village anywhere that is as good a these will be booked I would imagine.

Hollins Hey New Brighton is very good for food, don't be put off by the reviews of the hotel accommodation.

Shippon Irby Village, lovely food & very reasonable. The Grange Moreton, needs updating but great food & plenty of it .Nearer home Sheldrakes, not been for ages but never heard any complaints. Pub grub usually better than restaurants

Best place to eat must be at home, you know how clean the kitchen is and exactly what it is you are eating

Another vote for Jug and Bottle - I had a Christmas meal there in a group of 14 and it was very tasty, decent quantity too.
