May well affect some on here. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/n...artners-won-t-be-able-to-claim-pension-/Pensioners who live in a couple will only be able to make a new claim for pension credit when both partners are over the state pension age, under new rules to come into effect in May. Pension credit gives a guaranteed minimum income to those over the state pension age, which is now 65 for both men and women. But from 15 May 2019, those living in a couple will only be able to claim if both partners have reached the qualifying age. Use the Government's free calculator to find out when you qualify. If you already claim pension credit and your partner hasn't reached the qualifying age, you won't be affected by the change and will carry on receiving it for as long as you're eligible. You'll also carry on getting it if you apply to start receiving pension credit on or before 14 May 2019, even if you have a younger partner - so if you think you're eligible, make sure you apply as soon as possible. (link above has extra info)

You would think we have paid enough taxes etc over our working lifetime to be able to enjoy retirement instead of counting the pennies!!!!!

A couple are already penalised by £77.20 a week on pension credit, this is a further penalty.
This government spends more money than any other government ever but all that money is going into a very small number of pockets. Revenue is higher than ever before, borrowing is higher than ever before, public services are reducing every year ..... where do you think all that money is going?
Eventually enough people in this country are going to wake up to the fact that Tory governments are out to rob as many people as possible.

If people are only just realising this then all is lost, the idea of a no deal Brexit is to turn this country into a low wage economy, free from EU restrictions, why the reluctance over workers rights? Why did they try to discourage workers from taking employers to tribunals, at every twist and turn they put the boot in to ordinary folk, the only time we are considered is for canon fodder to keep the tax evaders and shysters in the lifestyle to which they are accustomed.

Without the EU we only have one Government to fight and that consists purely of showing the Tory's appalling economic record so the electorate will vote them out.
The UK has led the world on human rights and workers rights, the EU has done very little on both, they openly admit what they have done has been down to UK influence.
The Tories are the enemy of anyone that is not a multimillionaire, the amount of money being squirrelled away is unreal and they still haven't paid back one penny of Government borrowing.
The best thing we can do now is punish countries that punish the UK and punish companies that punish the UK, just don't buy their goods.

Low wages are not the only problem. I could take say a £100 a month cut if my mortgage was £200 less and other taxes were less

I don't mind paying tax for public services but this Government is giving the taxes to the rich instead of paying for services.
