Money money money , never mind the pain to the animal. What some people will do to make sure their dogs can fetch the most money possible is sickening.

That is horrific. Such cruelty, she shouldn't be allowed to have any animals. Poland do not have a very high standard for animal welfare and when we leave the EU ours might improve.
Terrible.

OMG what a dreadful thing to do .I didnt know such a procedure existed . The pain must have been awful but these people dont care about that . Tail docking, ear cropping I dread to think what else is going on in the doggy world. If you have dogs love them as they are as no matter what you do to them they will love you in return.

Lincle, you should see what's going on in Syria at the moment. The dogs and cats are being used as instruments for taking revenge for 7 yrs of war, by the children who have known no difference ! Messed up in the heads.

But, I didn't know dogs ears were cut off for any reason, as in this case. It's got to be a criminal act in this country .

Its perfectly legal for parents to have their children mutilated for aesthetic reasons and many do, including ears!

If I witnessed any act of cruelty I doubt that I would ever get a good nights sleep again. Why,why, why are people so cruel its heartbreaking.

But as usual there are exemptions and loopholes in UK law regarding tail docking and ear cropping. To prosecute can be very hard because the burden of proof lies with the prosecution not the defendant.

I edited this as it seemed like it was aimed at one person.

Anyway, you lot banging on about it being cruel ect ect, what about kids having ears pierced?

That okay is it?

No I personally think ear piercing is wrong in children ,particularly little ones, but in cruelty terms, it actually hurts no more than pricking your finger sewing , so you cant compare it to this sort of ear butchery . (Plus lots of children actually ask for pierced ears , quite prepared for the bit of pain, and a lot of mothers think --oh ok then she can have it ) Painwise this ear butchery is more comparable to FGM I would imagine.

But somewhere around 30% of ear piercings have complications, the most dominant being infection which puts a different light on the amount of "cruelty".

I was glad when the option of having parental choice over tattoos was removed and it became over 18s only.

Acupuncture should also be removed from under 18s, in fact I'd go further than that and say it should be banned altogether if not performed by a proper medical professional (and I would hope most of them wouldn't even consider it).

Thats a fair enough comment DD , but you have to compare like with like . The comparison was made between a 'routine' ear mutilation and a 'routine' ear piercing . If you want to up the anti ,do it across the board ----on ear piercing complications, you dont die of them. If you have ear mutilations go wrong on a dog, the surface area open to be infected is huge compared to a pierce , and the animal could die .

Re acupuncture, I dont know enough to comment .

Hi Bull, ear cropping dogs is illegal in the UK unless it is done for medical reasons.

Pink Floyd Dogs ( Part 2 )
Hi i know but i thought it was pointless when legal in Ireland just a boat trip over and you can slice and dice your dog. I looked into buying a Doberman with cropped ears and tail and the price was expensive so bought a pedigree GSD as i know the breed thoe he is the last will not have any more with Vet bills getting expensive.

You are right about vet bills, my sister in law has just paid £700 to have six of her cat’s teeth extracted, plus another £150 if she wanted a biopsy! We take our pup to Broadway vets and the vets there all seem to be under 30, this is probably because they have all made enough dosh by then to retire very early. And don’t get me started about out of hours charges.

Tell her to change to BIRCH VETS, ( providing they will take on a new client at the moment). she could have had 3 cats done for that price! Broadway have always been ridiculously expensive. Birch don't try to push extras on you, either. My cats have never need a biopsy for teeth.

There are facts yet to be revealed about a member of Birch veterinary team that may change your opinion. Make your own enquires.

With more and more medical and dental items being removed from the NHS list, it would be wise to see if you can afford your own bills before taking on a pet whose bills could be more than your own.

I don't have a pet because I couldn't afford the insurance on top of other expenses for that pet.
