Here's a short film of a lovely walk along the Penny-a-Day Dyke on Bidston Hill with a bit of history included. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--BcIz85F2k

Enjoyed that little film, felt like I was walking it myself. It's so long since I have been on Bidston Hill think the last time anywhere near was Tam O'Shanters farm many years ago...

Oh - I feel so homesick now. Originally from Moreton now living in NZ. Bidston hill has always been my favourite place in the world. Thank you for posting the film.

Bidston hill (Biddy Hill), Rhododendron Gardens (Rhods) and the tunnels were my playground growing up and still take the occasional walk through them, not the tunnels anymore though

Well Moretonkiwi , I get it you feeling homesick but just watched a news report on New Zealand beating the virus and getting back to normal, people hugging their families and enjoying being social again . Oh how I envy you for that , we've got a long way to go yet.

What a lovely little video. Very enjoyable, thanks Phoenix .
Last time I took the grandchildren to Tam O'Shanters , Cools we were looking at the piggies and doing the usual oohs and aahs, at the same time the smell of bacon was wafting out of the café next door. Haven't been back again.

Hi Cool, yes, we are lucky to be living here at the moment. Now we are at level 2 there are still masses of things in place to stop the spread of Covid. Luckily we don't live in a city so it is easier to 'police' people's actions. Shops are now open (if they want to) but only a certain number of customers in at a time then it is a case of one in when one comes out - all checkouts are disinfected between customers and the 2 metre rule is still in place. Schools return on the 18th but you can still homeschool if you feel safer that way. Pubs and clubs will be able to reopen on the 21st but they will only be able to have limited numbers. Initially the government said only 10 people could attend funerals but after public pressure they have now stated 50 can attend a funeral but they most not be together for more than 2 hours and there can be no food or drink offered. Right from the word go our Prime Minister has been very up front with what can and can't be done and everyday on television between programmes a Covid 19 message shows giving a list of the things you should adhere to - the 2 main ones being wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands and social distance at all times.
Many New Zealanders had hoped that we would be at least a further 2 weeks before dropping to Level 2 but fingers crossed that we don't now have an increase in cases. We have been horrified at some of the scenes on the BBC news of people in the UK openly disregarding safety precautions (we have those morons here as well - just not so many.
Stay safe everyone.

Thank you everyone. I love the rhododendrons in Park Wood too. Such a vast collection and a perfect time now to see them in all their glory.
Greetings to NZ! Such a great and correct plan by your government that really works. Its mad here and advice is not to be trusted I feel.
Oh dear with the wafting bacon fragrance but it is an educational farm. Be an awful lot of little piggies if they didnt go to market!

Thanks Phoenix
I so enjoyed the video. I have so many happy memories of Bidston Hill; it was my playground as a child. I used to look after my younger Brother and Sisters and spent many happy times in this beautiful place; so refreshing, relaxing and restful.
I watched the next video along about old Birkenhead and that too brought back so many happy memories.
Regards
