Hi all, I was just wondering if any one out there, could help me.
My father who has past now, was fostered at two years of age his name William Thomas, with his sister Hilda.
I have his birth certificate and it gives the address as number 5 Oliver Place, Birkenhead.
Mother’s name Sarah Damen Married name Thomas. This would be a long time ago now, 1926 .
We can find no trace of him, we know he had other brothers and sisters, but who they were and why my dad and his sister were fostered we don’t know, any info would be good thanks

Marriage, 1914, Weymouth, Sarah Damen/Albert Thomas.

The following are children registered in Birkenhead between 1914 and 1940, with the surname, Thomas and mothers maiden name, Damen.

William, 1916,
Hilda, 1919,
Gladys, 1922,
May, 1923,
William A, 1926,
Frederick G, 1927,
Elsie, 1919.

Above typo, Elsie born 1929

Flaybrick Cemetery, Burial, 4th March 1929,
Sarah Thomas, age, 32, Widow, 5 Oliver Place,
Private Grave, Section 14, Grave, 204.

Flaybrick Cemetery, Burial, 27 October, 1928,
Albert Thomas, age, 41, Dock Labourer, 5 Oliver Place.

Same grave as Sarah.

Elsie Thomas's birth was registered in the March Qtr, 1929, which covers births, January, February, March.
There is a death registered in Birkenhead, Elsie Thomas, 1930, aged 1.

That is sad, looks like Sarah died giving birth to Elsie having just become a widow then Elsie died a year later.

I wonder who the Owens were, being buried in the same grave, very intriguing,
Is Flaybrick cemetery still around, would love to visit the grave.
I didn’t know a lot about my fathers family, but the little bits I knew, you have confirmed, seems they had a sad life, his family.
I wonder if any descendants are still alive

Is Oliver Place still around, when I google it comes up with Oliver rd

William Arthur Thomas married Caroline Evans, 14 December, 1902, Liverpool, William used the name Arthur to marry.

After William Arthur's death, Caroline Thomas, nee Evans, married John Owens, 1919 Birkenhead.

Flaybrick Cemetery is till open. Oliver Place is long gone.

William Arthur Thomas and Albert Thomas were brothers.

Jean Margaret May, 1931-32 is the daughter of Charles May/Mary Elizabeth Thomas, married 1927, Birkenhead.

Mary Elizabeth is the daughter of William Arthur Thomas.
