Is there anybody that can tell me the name of the cake shop that was on Moreton roundabout where Les Turner's tobacconists was (on the corner of Oakenholt Road). I am looking at the time period of about 1930-1940. The owners are believed to have lived on the right hand side of the road as you drive into Meols. Any help greatly appreciated .

1938, Hoylake Rd.
On the corners of Oakenholt Rd was the Plough Inn and Barton Mills, Stationer, next to Barton Mills towards Pasture Rd was Mrs F Laidlaw, Confectioner.
Heading towards Meols, on the corner of Hoylake Rd/ Bermuda Rd, no number given in the 1938 directory. Mrs Frances Laidlaw, Baker.
God help us, Come yourself, Don't send Jesus, This is no place for children.

Thank you so much for that Bertieone. It has let me put a name to a photograph of my late mother's. All I knew was that it was of the son of the owner of the cake shop and was taken circa 1936. I have very very vague memories of the cake shop as I grew up in Glebelands Road, Moreton. Once again you have been my hero. It is appreciated so much. Where would we be without you?
