I remember the British Steel buildings, used to play footy when in junior school down valley road before tescos was built. There used to be a park with climbing frames e.t.c near British Steel behind the avenues. I also heard there was a social club situated in that area somewhere behind the avenues and the British Steel building probably for residents of the avenues and/or workers of Britsh Steel...any more info would be interesting.

placidmaster. Don't lock yourself away mate! You are quite right. The buses then were bile green and vomit cream. The symbol (Merseytravel ?) you described was spot on.
The same symbol was used on the Merseyrail trains, stations etc. when the trains were all BR blue. I think it was dropped when they went blue/grey.
Things went downhill fast after they stopped painting the "Corpy" buses blue. They had one of the best maintained fleets in the UK - unlike the smoking mobile heaps of pop-rivets and formica that pollute the roads now!

nice one folks and biddy dock filled in, bloody hell, st james looks a travesty of justice now and them crossville buses were red with i think small yellow lettering and (age showing) did the '39' to west kirby and turned off from down town around the laird street area heading up and over ford hill, my memory is a little crapper now, you would not think that in later life i lived on hoylake road for a year and went to park high. when i left the trains had not been modded (the front ends) but were yellow and merseytravel was just getting rid of the old leyland atlantean buses with the notch back, and on the way to school these would be overtaken by snails out for a slow wander. conway park (or whatever its called) station was not built either or was just being started and that europa pool was a new thing i think. i used to bunk school on them scavaways for a pound and go all over, and hide in maccy dees at charing cross.happy days lol

Any one remember having to change trains at Rock Ferry when the electic finished there and having to get on a noisy crappy Diesel thing to Hooton, before changing again to get to Chester!
I'd forgotten about crosville....They did our school buses...
