We had a monkey called oscar, went everywhere with us, Oscar allways sat on pulley over fire as soon as he saw my it went mad throw shite at him rip his shirts up, it hated my dad,
come home from school one day and our mum sold Oscar to wirral pets for £25 Gutted,
was in pet shop every day, only lived over the road.
Great childhood memories for me. I went to Woodlands school from 1958, Mr Bethell was the headmaster, great pool and always remember no mans land separating the boys and girls.
I lived on Borough Road but we moved to Wales when I was 12 so limited memories of the shops.
I had 2 brothers David and Peter, if it jogs any memories we had a piglet as a pet(think I was really naughty and charged people to see it).
Need help with this pic. On the right there are 2 bus shelters, opposite the further one there was a little shop which sold foreign stamps. Can anyone remember the name?
Also, I'm inclined to think that the ornate lamp standards are a hangover from the days of trams (finished 1937) & carried the power lines.
Is it the same little stamp shop that was still there in the late 80's?
Buggered if I can remember the name of it but used to go passed it all the time on the bus.
