What,s its history and how long has it been there
Its possible the lane you my be talking about is Ditton Lane off Pasture rd. in 1973 i went to see a property there with a view to buy and they were constructed with a mixture of timber and asbestos sheeting similar to the prefabs they built after the war, though they were not prefabs. The lane was unadopted and was the responsibility of the residents and it stunk of Cadburys. Glad i never bought it as i think it fell or had to be knocked down a few years later.
God help us, Come yourself, Don't send Jesus, This is no place for children.
Castlefields is a private residence estate. Some houses ARE wooden but most now rebuilt in brick, all bungalows i think. A mate lives down there, been a few yars sinse driven up it. Its next to Leasowe Golf Club!!
Your probably thinking of the wooden challlets that used to be in the fields that tarran industrial estate now cover. They were holiday homes and some perminant homes for many people from 1900 - 1970's. One of the fields was called Kers field. They woulf requently flood and there are many photos showing this. One of Moretons oldest residents Frankie Biddle who owns the farm next to the cafe used to get taken to school down lingham lane on a horse and cart. He has many photographs of the challets in the early days.
With regard to the cafe building i think it has been there much longer than 45 years but unfortunately the render covers up most of the detail. Looking at the windows i would say probably built 1920-1930.
sorry yes there was also some prefab houses and caravans on the land around Ditton Lane and what is now Burtons site. Lots of the Prefabs were built in the muddy fields around 1940s / 50s after ww2 bombing had took its toll. Giving Moreton the nick name "shanty town" and "Moreton in the mud".
ye well over 45 years i ment i can remember it when i was a kid on our days out to the shore. mr biddle sound bloke lets me shoot on his land.. hes got to be in his 90s by now??
you would be there till next year. and only told you half of the stories through out his life bit of a nutter in his youth iknow a lot of farmers told me a tail or two about Mr f biddle
funny that because mr biddle tried !! to run me over this morning in the petrol station in his battered old blue tranny van, think that is as old as he is.went down to his house the other day to buy one of his moreton history books but he was not in.sometimes comes in to the builders merchants i work in but is always in such a rush.will have to have a nice chat with him one day when he gets a bit older and slows down a bit lol.
