Yer moreton mart next to the chippy. I remember it boarded its windows up when there was something going on on the ford/nocky? It was around the time of the toxteth riots and i was petrified, thinking the riots were coming to moreton. Also, remember the rumour that sueys were selling 'dog' and me mum boycotted them and we went the one opposite morton arms instead.

ok I remember a row of shops that got pulled down on the same street as Moreton Market was (Oakenholt Road) I had to look it up. I remember a barbers being there. On the corner there was like 2 small shops where Barbers is now and the Key Cutting place was I remember one of them being a tiny sweet shop and think the other one sold wool I think.

I used to buy my chips there on my way home from boys brigade, cant remember what night it was on. I wasn't actually in the B,B,. My mates and i all decided to join, it was a bus ride to Moreton from Leasowe, but when we got to Moreton we decided to hang around the shops (all closed as it was evening) instead of going to B,B. This went on for weeks n weeks, subs and return bus fare always spent on sweets and then chips and a can of Tizer from the Golden Sunrise to walk back home with. It always seemed such a long way on short legs. My mother would ask week after week "When are you going to get your uniform?" I remember my excuses being so unbelievable that they must have sounded true ha ha Shhhhhh, she's still none the wiser!

Yeah, like a little village of shops all under the one roof. All gradually closed down til there was only the sweet shop left right by the door. That stayed for a few years even after kwiksave took the building.

Now the toy shop opposite, that was another matter. Mortimers, then it changed to Keighleys. It was a young boys heaven upstairs in there. Models of anything you could think of!
