anybody know anyone who can supply and fit an auto g/box to a vectra sri and a rough price please. the cars on an 03 plate.

Try calling Vaux Care on the Argyle Industrial Estate....

anti freeze leaked from engine into the g/box making it useless apparently it's a common fault

Have you tried draining and then refilling the gearbox?

have been told by a garage that the box is useless now

Yeah, they would do that, you would then pay them to replace the gearbox they claim is broken.

Does it actually work?

id defo drain and refill it first.

No a guy has looked at it and had a test machine thing on it gaves allsorts of readings and it goes into the gears but nowt else. but it's good at night if you need a light outside start car up and select reverse lol

Have you asked at Robbs Garage in Wallasey, they are Auto specialists, the fix and recon boxes.

I read it's a common problem with the coolant seals on the gearbox.
