You use graphite powder on zips to stop them 'catching'. It's great stuff.

That's a silly reply saying that
Someone may actually try it - dangerous especially after a person asked what it's used for

Well, if Phil's answer is deemed silly. Here's one of them multiple choice efforts.

Graphite is used for:

a) Keeping wild Wombats that are in heat away from the rhubarb.

b) Coating old 78's with, so they all play the 2 minutes silence.

c) Lubricating locks and some machinery.

You have 30 minutes starting now !

Summer read the whole thread. People have already said what it's used for. Which is why I gave a silly answer.
Anyone stupid enough to eat it is in for a real treat because it's delicious. I eat it by the bowlful. yumyum

go ahead eat it - it wont do you any harm... and yes I am serious... but it doesn't really taste good - I lied about that so I wouldn't recommend it smile

Whilst carbon is given to absorb some poisons sometimes, graphite is toxic especially for the lungs, but if you eat it it can have an adverse effect on the cardio-vascular system.
