Anyone remember the Sandpiper club in Conway Street that existed in the 70s? It had many name changes through the years. It was the second floor of what is now the Cool Room or the Beach. I haven't been back in there since the 70s.

The very first time I went they were playing Sugar-Sugar by the Archies. Every time I hear it I always think of the Sandpiper. I actually met my wife in the Saddle Prenton, also on my first visit there. Still together after 20 years this year & our 15th wed anniversary. That's right about the Sandpiper, people always refered to it as the Calli.

I had my first Saturday job in Liscard Co-op, in the cosmetics department. One of the girls who worked with me kept squirting herself with Brut ~phew~ and the Bronnley lemon soap they sold tended to make me sneeze. The cafe upstairs sold hot eccles cakes, whch I remember fondly! Unlike the lockers, from which I kept getting static electricity stings - nylon overall. Ugh.
Also remember Lennons on Seaview Road; it used to be a cinema and that was where I saw my first film - Bambi. When Bambi's mother was shot, I was NOT a happy bunny...

I thought I'd start this topic to see if anyone else remembers the Wirral how I do, feel free to add your own Who remembers... The shops on conway street? - ClickyYeah I remember there used to be like a DIY store or something like that. When Europa Pools, Vue Cinema and Conway Park train station was all a massive gravel car park? Yeah remember that too!! There was an Asda where Wilkinsons in bhead town now is? Used to do the weekly shop there with my Mum at the Asda, and funnily enough before it was Asda it was St. Andrew's Square, were my Dad grew up!!

Who remembers Wah Sen, the Chinese restaurant opposite Rock Ferry Station? It used to be the Kiwi Cafe before that.
