I wonder if it was a Tea Garden or early form of Beer Garden attached to the Hotel.
Most of the Wirral Ferry terminals has tea gardens or similar attached to them. Most of these had shows and rides.
The Royal Rock Hotel had the Olympian Gardens attached.
