Is there any CCTV guru's lurking on here I could do with a few pointers. I want to run the cctv through an old pc with just one camera for the moment with the ability to record at set times wht apart form the camera would I need to buy to do this?

You could always try Yawcam from http://www.yawcam.com/It's free and it works. It's got motion detection, streaming, scheduled recording and many more features. With a bit of trickery you can have more than one copy running for more cameras.
