I'll go with that "The Royal Swan", not sure if "The Stump" or "Blazing Stump" were just nicknames after the landlord.

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. It was called 'The Blazing Stump' ironic when it went up in flames! It was also Bonkers very briefly, I worked there even brieflier.

Apologies if I missed it, but has anyone got any pictures of the Swan Hotel, Prenton, pre-1970's(ish).
It used to have balconys at 1st floor level. Neon signs with "Swan Hotel" and "Bents Bitter" attached. Although the beer was no great shakes, it was a smart, well run establishment. Had my first drink there, both legal and otherwise !
When I went past earlier this year, it looked a right dump externally. I didn't venture in.

I may have missed them in the index but is there anybody out there that remembers:-
The Imperial on Church Road - Had my first pint in there at the age of 14 / 15
The Royal on Woodchurch Road (Just on the bend at the top of Carlton Road) This was my main drinking hole for many many too many perhaps years. I believe this has closed down now - I will always remember Rene the barmaid absolute Star
The Carlton on Borough Road (At the bottom of Carlton Road) This was another of my drinking holes and my Dads

We watched the Liverpool game in the Cock and Pullet yesterday Bandy spider and myself. We did notice a picture marked as Vittoria Road but we all three agreed, it was Corporation Road.I think a lot of the pictures you see in pubs are a commercial enterprise without much local Knowledge. The Swan used to have some old photo's on the wall of the pub when it was a whitewashed cottage type building.I will check if they are still in the bar area.
